The sun is shining and spring is here... isn't life grand?! Particularly when you turn on the news and see the upturn in the sharemarket, rising interest rates (yes, that's a good thing) and increasing business confidence levels...yes times are good! So why aren't aren't you as busy as you would like... well patience, patience, patience!!! aCE talentNET is pleased to report increasing levels of client enquiries and positive signs of a return to more 'normal' levels of consultant engagements. hat said, we predict a slow but steady increase in activity. Typical projects at present include: instructional design, IT systems training, change management etc. We also predict that HR functions will soon start to loosen the purse strings a little to fund HR project initiatives that have been put on hold during 2009. Time will tell.
So while you're waiting for your next big gig... consultants are reminded to complete the annual aCE talentNET Global Consultant Study (yes believe it or not it was 12 months ago that you completed our inaugural Study!). This is the data that shapes our Consultant Services of which you will have seen various initiatives launched over the past 6 months. If you like what we're doing, then tell us, if you don't then tell us that too by clicking here to go to the Survey... look forward to hearing from you!
Earlier in the month, fellow Director Denise Hall found an incredibly interesting article by Trendwatching.com... where it is pointed out that the need for everything , that is (right) now/current/real-time, is being satisfied in numerous novel ways, with (wait for it) the online world showing the way forward. Dubbed 'NOWISM', this mega trend has, and will continue to have, a big impact on everything from your corporate culture to customer relationships to product innovation to tactical campaigns. Don't miss reading this incredibly eye-opening (if not a little unsettling for the Gen X'er) article.
Hope you back some winners during the Spring Carnival!
Regards
Deirdre

- Five Burning Questions About How to Work With Headhunters…
Whilst aCE talentNET is not a headhunter per se, many of the questions in this article apply when working with a Corporate Talent Agent such as we are. Therefore we thought there was value in bringing the following to your attention, via Fast Company.
In How to Work with Headhunters…and Make Headhunters Work for You , Corcodilos, a headhunter himself, debunks common fallacies about this breed, including the most common one: that headhunters find jobs for people. Not true! Only a paltry 3% of jobs are filled by headhunters. That said, a good headhunter with an attractive offer, can change your life for the better, so it pays to know how to deal with them for best results. And that is what this book is all about.

- Hiring Upturn Survey - Top-Consultant.com
Executive Summary…Hiring Upturn Survey (Published October 2009)
Overall the UK based findings paint a picture of a modest recovery in hiring activity that is only just now starting to get underway. Of greater strategic significance, the levels of hiring activity witnessed during the most recent boom will not be seen again for at least 3 years. Click here to read on.
- Maybe Copy-Catting is the Answer?
Dan Heath and Chip Heath's latest for FastCompany.com certainly gets you thinking… In their article, A Problem-Solver's Guide to Copycatting , they make the point that quite often the answer to a problem is already available, the corporate blinkers (and even ego! heaven forbid) however restrict the sourcing possible solutions…read on …
